The fourth edition of ART*VR, a festival dedicated to virtual reality and immersive art, opens November 10, 2026 at the DOX Centre for Contemporary Art in Prague, running through November 15. This year’s theme is Intimacy, and the program spans immersive film, interactive projects, physical and haptic installations, live VR performance, and AI-based work.
What’s on the program
The festival splits across several sections and venues:
- International Competition (in DOX’s Auditorium): fourteen recent projects — sensory installations and interactive games touching on the climate crisis, digitization, trauma, family memory, and the search for one’s place in the world.
- Circles of Intimacy (Space C): nine projects exploring intimacy across its erotic and platonic, familial and communal, and bodily and spatial forms. This section stays open through December 13, outlasting the rest of the festival.
- Asterisk* (the Classroom): works on human and animal rights, loss, death, and the non-human world.
- Additional programming runs at the Prague Planetarium and Signal Space.
The festival’s individual titles and creators haven’t been published yet in English-language coverage — the full lineup is listed at artvr.cz/en for anyone planning a visit.
The conference running alongside it
From November 12–14, the festival hosts the Zip-Scene Conference, focused on interactive and immersive storytelling, artificial intelligence, and authenticity — a three-day program aimed squarely at the people building this work, not just experiencing it.
Practical details
Tickets run from 280 CZK for a single day (160 CZK for students/teachers/seniors, 100 CZK for children 7–15) up to 1,100 CZK for a six-day festival pass. A combined ticket that includes DOX’s standing exhibitions costs more. DOX is at Poupětova 1, Praha 7, open 11am–7pm Tuesday through Sunday; because installation capacity is limited and staff help visitors put headsets on, arriving early in the day is the practical move for anyone wanting to see multiple pieces. Individual VR films in the program run 10 to 60 minutes, and visitors can watch several across a visit.
