NVIDIA's SIGGRAPH Keynote: DLSS 5 Goes Multi-Model, and Cosmos 3 Pushes World Models to the Edge

At SIGGRAPH 2026, NVIDIA detailed DLSS 5 — three swappable AI rendering models with per-object control, shipping this fall on a single RTX 50-series GPU — alongside Cosmos 3 Edge, a 4-billion-parameter world model that runs locally in real time.

At SIGGRAPH 2026, NVIDIA used its keynote — “Next Era of Graphics: Neural Rendering, World Models & Simulation” — to lay out two advances that matter well beyond gaming: DLSS 5, its next-generation AI rendering technology, and Cosmos 3 Edge, the latest in its platform of generative “world foundation models.” Together they sketch the direction of AI-driven graphics: rendering that adapts intelligently scene by scene, and world models compact enough to run on the device in front of you.

DLSS 5: three models, per-object control

The headline change in DLSS 5 is flexibility. Where earlier versions applied a single upscaling-and-generation model to a whole frame, DLSS 5 ships with three distinct AI models, and developers can select a different model for individual scenes and even tune the effect per object. NVIDIA frames the goal as making real-time graphics more photorealistic while preserving artistic intent — the technology adapting to what a scene needs rather than imposing one look everywhere.
