Robot Dogs, a Demining Simulator, and a Sculpture That Reacts to Your Movement: Inside SIGGRAPH 2026's Experience Hall

SIGGRAPH's hands-on showcase — Real-Time Live!, Emerging Technologies, the Immersive Pavilion, and a 12-piece art gallery on human-AI relationships — runs July 19–23 at the LA Convention Center, and this year's lineup leans hard into things attendees can physically touch.

SIGGRAPH 2026 runs July 19–23 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, with the exhibition floor open July 21–23, and this year’s Experience Hall — the conference’s hands-on showcase, distinct from the paper-presentation tracks — is organized around five programs: Spatial Storytelling, the Immersive Pavilion, an Art Gallery, Emerging Technologies, and a set of Hands-On Courses. As one program chair put it, “the Experience Hall has always been more than a show floor” — this is the part of SIGGRAPH built specifically for attendees to touch, not just watch.

What’s actually on the floor

The Immersive Pavilion is platform-agnostic by design, blending physical and digital environments across VR, AR, eye tracking, and AI rather than committing to one hardware ecosystem. Emerging Technologies carries the research-demo tradition SIGGRAPH is best known for — this year’s confirmed lineup includes Dog Walk, quadruped robots running evolving language models; SOMA, a robotic sculpture that responds directly to human movement; Pinlight AR, an augmented-reality display built around eye tracking; and Landmine/Garden, an interactive demining-training experience built as spatial storytelling rather than a conventional simulation. Hands-On Courses go further into direct participation, including a course where attendees write and run actual quantum computing code.

Real-Time Live! stays the marquee event

Real-Time Live!, the juried live-demo show where teams present real-time graphics and production pipelines in front of a live audience, returns as the Experience Hall’s centerpiece — this year’s open call spans game technology, real-time scientific visualization, real-time design tools, robotics, entertainment, and augmented reality. It’s historically the single best barometer of where real-time rendering and interactive tooling are actually headed, since every demo has to run live, unedited, on a stage — a much higher bar than a pre-rendered trailer.

The Art Gallery portion, organized around this year’s theme “In-Betweens,” presents 12 digital artworks exploring memory, identity, and the relationship between humans and AI — a smaller, more curated counterpart to the technical demos elsewhere in the hall, and a useful reminder that SIGGRAPH’s Art Papers and gallery programs are judged on the same rigor as its technical research, just aimed at a different kind of question.

Why this matters beyond the show floor

For creative coders who don’t make it to Los Angeles, the Experience Hall lineup is still a useful signal of where real-time graphics and interactive research is concentrated this cycle — robotics-as-sculpture, eye-tracking-driven AR display, and language-model-driven physical robots all point toward the same broader trend: research demos are increasingly built to be embodied and touched, not just rendered and viewed.
