Artists and researchers working at the intersection of art, science, and technology have one week left to submit to TTT2027, the next edition of the nomadic Taboo-Transgression-Transcendence in Art & Science conference. The call for papers, artist talks, and artwork presentations closes November 11, 2026 at 2:00pm EET.
What TTT is
TTT doesn’t have a permanent home — it’s a traveling, interdisciplinary conference that’s landed at venues across Europe since its earlier editions, most recently at Kino Šiška in Ljubljana. The 2027 edition moves to the University of Applied Arts Vienna (Angewandte), running September 14–17, 2027.
The conference’s general territory is “the nature of the forbidden” and “the aesthetics of liminality” in art that uses or is inspired by science and technology — work that sits deliberately at edges most venues avoid.
This year’s framing
The 2027 call is organized around a placenta metaphor: questioning narratives of individual autonomy, technological mastery, and limitless growth, and insisting instead that life depends on relationships rather than isolated agency. The call text raises a specific concern that will be familiar to anyone following biotech and AI debates — living matter increasingly treated as research material, a therapeutic resource, or biological data inside systems built around ownership and profit.
Submission formats include papers, artist talks, and artwork presentations (the public call doesn’t explicitly list installations as a separate category, so anyone proposing a physical work should check the full call text before submitting).
How to submit
Submissions go through the TTT2027 submission page at avarts.ionio.gr/ttt/2027/en/submission/. Questions can go to av-ttt@ionio.gr. The deadline — November 11, 2026, 2:00pm EET — is firm as of this writing; past TTT editions have occasionally extended their windows, but no extension has been announced for 2027.
