One Photo In, a Riggable Hairstyle Out: HairDeck Skips the Part Artists Hate Most
HairDeck is a new generative model that takes a single image of a stylized character and outputs animation-ready hair cards — the ribbon-shaped geometry games and avatars use for hair — complete with the spring-bone chains needed to animate them. Posted to arXiv October 29, it beats the prior best method (CHARM) by reducing geometric error 44%, more than halving orientation error, and running 33x faster, by treating a hairstyle as an unordered set of cards generated together rather than a long ordered sequence.
