Designing a Lampshade by Optimising Its Cavity and Its Bulbs Together
A 3D-printed free-form lampshade has an uneven glow, because the thickness varies and the bulb is wherever you put it. This method jointly optimises the cavity geometry and the light positions by differentiable rendering for uniform luminance — then validates it by printing five of them.
