Rather than wait on a fluid simulation to render, maker duo Visual Thinker built real flow-visualization hardware — a magnetically-driven boat tank and a 3D-printed wind tunnel — using rheoscopic fluid, a century-old trick of mica flakes in water that makes real flow patterns visible to the naked eye.
