Only One of Gradium's Seven Phonon Voices Is Apache-2.0 — and It's the One Everybody Downloaded
Gradium, a Paris voice-AI company spun out of Kyutai, has released the Phonon family: tiny streaming text-to-speech models that run in a browser tab, on a phone or on a laptop CPU. Coverage called it open-sourced under Apache 2.0. Checking every repository in the family gives a more interesting picture — the permissive licence covers exactly one of seven models, and that one has more downloads than the other six combined.
