A 370-Year-Old Clock Built So a Pope Could Sleep, Reprinted in Plastic
Maker Many Vices 3D-printed a working recreation of the silent night clock the Campani brothers built for Pope Alexander VII in 1656, following watchmaker Carlo G. Croce's brass reconstruction. Its eccentric crank escapement moves continuously instead of stopping and starting, so it makes no tick — at the cost of power efficiency and runtime.
