Sensory-Friendly XR Does Not Mean Less XR
Sensory-friendly design usually means reducing input. An ACM ISS 2026 study ran the same popular-science content through five full XR configurations for 20 autistic adults and found comfort ranged from 2.97 to 4.43 out of 5 — with discomfort tracking abrupt transitions, simultaneous demands and an inability to disengage, rather than the amount of stimulation.
