Simulated sand with an accelerometer and an LED matrix has been a staple demo for years, and it always needed Arduino or a Raspberry Pi. A new Adafruit learn guide does it in CircuitPython using Viper-compiled Turbo modules for the physics and Picogame for the rendering — which says something about where the interpreted-versus-compiled line now sits.
