The immersive video production chain has filled in steadily. Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive captures Apple Immersive Video on dual 8K sensors with 16 stops of dynamic range; DaVinci Resolve Studio edits, grades and delivers it. Capture and post are handled.
Distribution was not. If you finish an immersive film, your options have been to put it inside somebody else’s app and accept their storefront, their audience relationship and their cut — or to build a visionOS app, which is a software project you did not plan to run.
Acute Immersive, announced September 21, 2026, sells the third option.
What it is
Semi-custom white-label apps for immersive video, with a backend that handles publishing, monetisation and analytics. You get a branded destination on Vision Pro instead of a listing inside someone else’s.
The operational detail that matters most: you upload and organise files into playlists, review the immersive video in-headset, add titles and thumbnails, and publish new content — without submitting a new app version. Anyone who has waited on App Review to fix a typo in a video description will understand why that’s the feature worth naming first. It turns the app from a release-cycle problem into a CMS.
Formats supported:
- Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive footage (the primary target)
- Standard 16:9 video
- 3D movies
- 180° and 360°, mono or stereo
- Spatial Video shot on iPhone
That range is the interesting bit. The same pipeline takes a $30,000 cinema rig and a phone, which means a catalogue doesn’t have to be uniformly expensive to be uniformly presented.
The track record
Acute launched in 2025 and has brought two apps to market that are worth knowing about:
- Primary: News in Depth, which won the 2026 Apple Design Award for Social Impact
- Blue Frog Immersive
An Apple Design Award for an app built on a white-label platform is a reasonable answer to the obvious objection, which is that white-label products tend to look white-label.
Cost and direction
The model is a licensing fee with separate bandwidth charges, and custom app development for an additional service fee. Clients keep control of monetisation — individual videos, bundles or subscriptions, as they choose.
Bandwidth billed separately is the line to plan around. Immersive video is stereoscopic 8K; a successful release costs more to serve than an unsuccessful one, by a lot. That’s the right way round for a small producer and a genuine risk for anyone whose economics assume flat hosting.
The company plans to expand to Android XR, including XREAL Aura glasses. For anyone producing immersive work, that’s the more consequential roadmap item than any visionOS feature — a catalogue that only exists on Vision Pro is a catalogue with a very specific, very small audience, and the ability to serve the same library to two ecosystems changes whether the production budget makes sense at all.
