KiWear launched what it calls the industry’s first touchless smart ring controller at AWE USA 2026, with a Kickstarter campaign opening in July to fund production. The positioning is the story: where Oura, RingConn, and the rumored Apple ring all treat the finger as a place to measure heart rate and sleep, KiWear treats it as a place to put a controller — a ring that interprets hand gestures to drive phones, tablets, TVs, smart glasses, and car infotainment systems.

How it works

The ring combines motion-tracking and gesture-recognition sensors with what KiWear describes as proprietary real-time decision-making algorithms — the classification layer that turns raw inertial data into discrete, reliable commands. The company is building on a continued collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies aimed at next-generation AI and XR devices, which situates the ring less as a standalone gadget and more as an input peripheral for the glasses ecosystem arriving this cycle — the same wave as Samsung’s Galaxy Glasses reveal and Meta’s four-model lineup.

The input-device gap in the glasses boom

There’s a real problem underneath the pitch.
